Anika is a Danish-American born artist and designer working across different mediums. She likes making things, taking photos, arranging spaces, writing, listening to others, and finding solutions to problems among other things.
She was born in California in 1996, and moved to New York at the age of 17, where she studied Photography and Studio Art at New York University. She received her BFA in 2018.
Her label, PLEASURE GROUND, began as a lo-fi embroidery project in her New York apartment in response to the overwhelming amount of waste + pollution the fashion industry produces. Tired of contributing to the problem by engaging with Fast Fashion, she stopped buying new altogether and began shopping solely from vintage shops, dead-stock sites, and Goodwill by-the-pound. PLEASURE GROUND up-cycles thrifted basics into sustainable, one of a kind pieces made with love.
